|Christian Family Coalition Recommends Miguel Diaz de la Portilla State Senate District 36|
|MIAMI 08/20/2010 - The Christian Family Coalition recommends Miguel Diaz de la Portilla in State Senate District 36. As Miami-Dade County Commissioner from 1993-2000, Miguel created the Office of the Inspector General, fought against special interests, successfully opposed sales and property tax increases, and created Community Zoning Adjustment Boards to provide neighborhoods with more say over zoning decisions.|
Miguel Diaz de la Portilla is a tested and proven conservative leader who will fight to lower taxes, empower individuals and small businesses, and for more jobs for our community.
While serving on the Board of Miami-Dade County Commissioners, Miguel Diaz de la Portilla made the tough calls on matters ranging from zoning for churches to religious liberty. In 1998, and then again 2000, Commissioner Diaz de la Portilla courageously and valiantly voted AGAINST the County's hateful "sexual orientation" ordinance which promotes discrimination against people of faith and denies funding to highly respectable organizations such as the Boy Scouts of America.
"Miguel Diaz de la Portilla is a common sense social and fiscal conservative who will continue to speak up for Florida's families as a State Senator in Tallahassee; he deserves our support. We ask our 3,000+ voters in State Senate District 36, to press #52 for Miguel Diaz de la Portilla" stated Anthony Verdugo, Founder and Executive Director, Christian Family Coalition.
