MEDIA ALERT! New Miami-Dade Mayor Fails to Get Needed Mandate
Political experts: To move the county forward and prove himself, Gimenez must mend fences with pro-family leaders and constituents
MIAMI, FL - Today, the Christian Family Coalition (CFC), Florida's tireless human rights and social justice advocacy organization, called on Miami-Dade's newly elected mayor, Carlos Gimenez, to move quickly to unite a community divided by his disturbing ties to two extremist hate groups.
Carlos Gimenez barely won last Tuesday's mayoral election. Now he must win the confidence and trust of the vast majority of Miami-Dade residents rightly alarmed by his disconcerting links to a couple of fringe hate groups operating locally. The new mayor's election by a 2.2% razor-thin margin of only 4,375 votes, compels him to prove his ability to truly represent all Miami-Dade residents, including Christians and people of Faith, whose moral values and ethical principles are unjustly attacked by the extremist hate groups Gimenez irresponsibly cavorted with during the campaign.
The Christian Family Coalition (CFC) states:
"We congratulate Carlos Gimenez on his election. He promised to represent and protect all of us who live and raise families in Miami-Dade County. He must now deliver. His oath of office requires him to uphold and defend Florida's Constitution that defines civil marriage as the union of one man and one woman. He must now honor it. We, at CFC, are ready to work with the new mayor to help usher the reforms Miami-Dade urgently needs. Our position is as simple as it is sincere: It is always the right time to do the right thing, Mayor Gimenez. We are ready to help you. We await your call."
